Apocalyptic Insanity

Neo, who is still bleeding and slowly dying from his wounds, goes over everything that has happened in the last 5 days to understand what mistake he made to deserve his fate. Dying alone in an unknown place. With the only hope of being eaten by those monsters out there waiting for him.

Five days ago, he couldn have imagined dying so quickly. He started studying molecular biochemistry a year ago and is currently on vacation and visiting his mother and stepfather as well as his stepsister and stepbrother at home.

His biological father ”Klaus Ehrenbach ” died in an accident 5 years ago. Klaus loved Neo and his mother ”Annika ” very much.

At the same time, he loved his work as a physicist and he didn hide it. Every time Neo had a conversation with his father, he tried to explain his work to him as best he could, and that from the moment he was born.

Of course, Neo didn understand very much and was even less able to contribute anything productive to the conversation. But he was always enthusiastic when his father talked about different theories of physicists and scientists and often did experiments with him, which mostly ended in great chaos and fun.

These experiences will accompany him throughout his life and so he decided from an early age to follow in his fathers footsteps and also become a scientist. But instead of being interested in physics, Neo was more interested in biology and chemistry and decided to focus more on that.

His father supported him with his decision smiling and always saying ”I will always support you my son, even if you decide not to study at all. I will always be there for you ”.

The death of his father hit him hard at the time and even today he still can get over it. They called it an accident, he was on an expedition in space with 8 other explorers.

A fuel leak caused a chain reaction and ultimately the spacecraft exploded. When rescue teams arrived at the site of the explosion, they found no survivors.

In the end the fuel company was blamed as it was their responsibility they paid some money and 24 workers were arrested and sentenced to 2 – 5 years in prison and the case was closed. One of many, but not for Neo.

His father gave him strange subliminal messages before he left. Someone was after him because he had made some new breakthroughs in his research. He told Neo that everything will be fine soon, that he should take care of his mother while he flies to the moon for 3 weeks to sort things out.

Neo himself did not know what his fathers current research was, his father said it could revolutionize the world in the right hands. At the same time, in the wrong hands, it could destroy everything.

Neo thinks thats why his father was killed, a group or a person killed his father to get his research results.

Neo is a rational person who was taught from a young age by his father to question things logically and based on evidence. Although he was very angry and sad that his beloved father was killed by these people, he was also very aware of his situation.

If he goes to the police and reveals his suspicions to them, he and his mother would be the next to die. He just has no power or real evidence to do anything about it. The people who killed his father must have enough money, political power, and soldiers to complete such an action so quickly and cleanly.

He also suspects the military is involved in this. Covering up evidence and planting false evidence would be easy for the military convoy that arrived first at the scene of the accident. Furthermore, some journalists and news agencies were probably bribed not to investigate this case too closely, especially since the case was only in the media for one week and then disappeared as if it had never happened afterwards.

Neo therefore decided not to tell his mother about his suspicions and instead focused on helping her recover and get her finances under control.

The military pays a tidy sum of money to sign up for 4 years and Neo did that. He was trained as an infantryman for 2 years and can therefore handle firearms and laser weapons and understands the basics of mechatronics and the other 2 years he was trained as a fighter pilot and can control and repair small to medium-sized spaceships.

At the age of 20 he decided to follow his fathers wish to study molecular biochemistry.

In all this time, however, he has not forgotten what happened to his father and has conducted his own investigations, of course discreetly and secretly. He found out that the journalists involved in his fathers case had died in mysterious accidents. So, his theory that the journalists were bribed was probably correct, they had to die so there would be no witnesses to suspect the true killers.

He has also attempted to gain access to his fathers research facility, which has been denied as it is top secret and only authorized personnel have access to the data. So, his plan for the future looked like this.

First, study molecular biochemistry for four years and graduate with top grades.

Second, apply to your fathers research institute.

Third, secure all of his fathers research and prepare a public statement

Fourth, go public with your statement.

His plan was very simple, he couldn protect himself with money or with the police but he could protect him with attention of the media and the public, the killers wouldn dare to kill him after he got all the evidences otherwise, they would be the prime suspected.

Furthermore, he couldn really do anything besides that, he simply has too little information and can get anymore, otherwise his mother and he will also be killed by the murderers.

Thats why he felt so incredibly powerless in the years after his fathers death. He wanted nothing more than to meet the killers himself and tear them to pieces personally, he had fantasized about it so many times before.

But in the end, its just that, a fantasy.
